DANAFF History

The Third Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III), jointly organized by the People's Committee of Da Nang City and the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Cinema Development, returned on schedule after a year, affirming that it is the first and only film festival in Vietnam to be held annually, with the goal of increasingly professional development.

DANAFF III is held from June 29 to July 5, 2025

Compared to the previous two seasons, DANAFF III has developed quite comprehensively, in terms of scale, organization time and program content. From 05 days of official operation in the previous two seasons, DANAFF III increased the official time of the film festival to 07 days. The total number of films screened in DANAFF III increased to 100 compared to 63 films in DANAFF II; the number of film screenings increased to 200 compared to 100 sessions in the previous season. But more importantly, the content of DANAFF this year is very rich. A new film program has been opened, “Asian Cinema Panorama”, which selects outstanding Asian cinema works that have been successful at international film festivals in the past year, and simultaneously screens them together with films selected by DANAFF for their international or Asian premieres. Accordingly, in addition to the award categories that have been present in previous DANAFF seasons, such as the Asian Film Competition Award, Vietnamese Film Competition Award, NETPAC Award for Vietnamese Film Competition and Audience Award for films in the “Vietnamese Cinema Today” program, this year for the first time there will be the Critics Award for films in the “Asian Cinema Panorama” program.
