Fairy Tale for the Age of Seventeen
Synopsis
The story begins with a young girl named An. One day, while seeing off young men heading to the battlefield, she picks up a fallen letter written by a soldier named Thái. She decides to visit his home and deliver the letter to his mother. An, who lost her own mother at a young age, finds comfort in the presence of Thái’s mother - his only remaining family member. The two women quickly form a bond, and Thái’s mother encourages An to write letters to him. From that moment on, An begins to develop feelings for the soldier she has never met, who is far away at war.
Director's biography
Meritorious Artist Xuân Sơn was born in 1940 in Thanh Chương, Nghệ An Province. He is widely recognized in Vietnamese cinema for winning four Golden Lotus Awards for the feature film Fairy Tale for the Age of Seventeen at the 8th Vietnam Film Festival in 1988. He formerly held the position of Deputy Art Director of the Vietnam Feature Film Studio. In addition, he served as the Head of Jury of Direct-to-video Feature Film at the 16th Vietnam Film Festival, and as a jury member for the Feature Film category at the 17th Vietnam Film Festival.
