The Blade
Synopsis
The story centers on Nguyệt, an orphaned girl raised in a poor Catholic fishing village in southern Vietnam. Her childhood is shaped by the care of her grandmother and the local priest, but also tainted by distorted propaganda from the Republic of Vietnam soldiers. When liberation forces enter the village, tragedy strikes: Nguyệt’s grandmother, consumed by past trauma and misunderstanding, throws a grenade that kills several soldiers. Dũng, a young Viet Cong soldier, is forced to shoot her to protect his comrades - unintentionally planting the seed of deep resentment in Nguyệt’s heart.
