The Returnee
Synopsis
The Returnee is a poignant post-war story centered on Mây, a nurse who returns to her hometown after having been declared dead for a year, on the very day her former lover is getting married. Torn between past and present, and burdened by the physical and emotional scars of war, Mây withdraws into solitude by the Châu River. Yet, the quiet devotion of Quang, a southern soldier whose life she once saved, gradually softens her guarded heart. Through misunderstandings, loss, and unexpected turns, two lonely souls finally find solace together, adrift on a small boat headed downstream - like a quiet promise of the life still ahead.
