Synopsis

The film tells the story of an unexpected reunion between a former soldier and a dancer, drawing viewers back to the fierce years of resistance in Northern Vietnam. Leaving Hanoi to fight in the South, Quang - a young, pale, bookish man like so many others during the war—loses heart after hearing stories from experienced comrades about the brutality of the battlefield. Haunted by the fear of dying without ever knowing the touch of a woman, and witnessing firsthand the deaths of young men like himself during their march, Quang decides to desert. He hides in a cassava field, waiting for a train to return North. There, he meets little Nụ - the girl who changes his misguided thoughts and helps him find clarity.
