On the evening of June 29, the Opening Ceremony of DANAFF III took place at the Ariyana International Convention Center in Da Nang, officially launching this year’s festival. The event welcomed a diverse gathering of international delegates, artists, and filmmakers from Vietnam and across Asia.
Notably, the ceremony was graced by the presence of Ms. Audrey Azoulay – Director-General of UNESCO.
In her heartfelt speech, she emphasized the power of cinema as a “universal language” that connects people, preserves cultural identity, and fosters dialogue.

She also reaffirmed UNESCO’s commitment to supporting Vietnam in developing its film industry and promoting sustainable cultural policies.
During the ceremony, DANAFF III also announced THE Cinema Achievement Award 2025, honoring legendary Korean director Im Kwon Taek, whose work has significantly shaped modern Korean cinema. The award was accepted on his behalf by Mr. Kim Dong Ho – Founder of the Busan International Film Festival – along with Mr. Choi Youngsam, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam.
With expanded scale and professional engagement, DANAFF III features over 100 outstanding films alongside a rich lineup of seminars, workshops, and networking events taking place from June 29 to July 5, 2025.
