Author Introduction

Nguyễn Minh Châu is a celebrated Vietnamese actress and People’s Artist, born in 1956. She is one of the rare few to have been honored with two Golden Lotus Awards, the highest accolade in Vietnamese cinema.

She rose to prominence in the late 1980s with her iconic performances as Nguyệt in The Girl on the River (1987) and Liên in The Woman Who Plays with Sand (1989). In 2010, she won the Golden Kite Award for Best Leading Actress for her role as Thường in the film The Provincial Party Secretary. She was awarded the title of People’s Artist in 2015 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the arts.

In 2024, she received international acclaim with the Best Performance Award at the 23rd Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival for her role as Madam Nguyện in the Vietnamese independent film Cu Li Never Cries.
