The Cricket and the muddy adventure
Synopsis
Men’s home in the polluted city was destroyed, forcing him to set out in search of cleaner environment. When his friends grew curious, he recounted his adventure with Trui. Along the way they befriended Chuon, Nhen Nuoc, and Dep, who guided them to Muddy Hamlet—the kingdom of Great king frog Com. Although Great King frog Com and Coc welcomed him, Men soon uncovered their dark conspiracy. Mustache whiskers rescued him and brought him to the Termite Nest, where he entered a martial‐arts tournament to repay his debt and defeated Bo Ngua . On his way to claim the prize, Men was ambushed but saved by the Bo Ngua; together they rushed back to free the Termite Nest. During the ensuing battle with the Voi army, the city was set ablaze by a spark from Professor Giam. De Men then saved Frog Cốm, inspiring genuine remorse in the tyrant. Finally, he received a map to the Promised Land and embarked on a new journey
Director's biography
Director Mai Phuong has over 16 years of experience in the fields of graphics, visual effects, and animation. She is the pioneering director behind The Cricket and the muddy adventure - the first 3D animated feature film in Vietnam. The film’s main character, Cricket (De Men), was selected as the mascot for UNICEF Vietnam in a nationwide campaign to raise awareness on environmental and child-related issues. As the director, screenwriter, and character designer, Mai Phuong led a team of hundreds of young creatives, including many students, who contributed to the project.
In 2020, she was awarded Second Prize in the “National Screenwriting Competition for Feature Films” organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, for her script Thiên Mạc Hùng Ca - a historical film highlighting national heroes.
