DEAL AT THE BORDER
Synopsis
Inspired by real events from the childhood of the scriptwriter and director’s brother, Aktan Ryskeldiev, the film tells a story of 2 drug couriers Aza and Samat, who encounter Nazik, a girl who escaped from slavery and is hiding from her pursuers. When Nazik falls back into the hands of a local criminal and becomes his captive, Aza decides to do everything possible to save her.
Director's biography
Dastan Zhapar Ryskeldi is renowned for directing pivotal films like A Father's Will (2016) and The Road to Eden (2020). His acclaim includes the esteemed Golden Zenith at the Montreal World Film Festival for his debut work. He is a member of the Asia-Pacific Film Academy (APSA) and of the Union of Filmmakers of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Confederation of Unions of Filmmakers of the CIS and Baltic countries.
