SLEEP WITH YOUR EYES OPEN
Synopsis
Kai arrives from Taiwan for a holiday, where she meets Fu Ang, who later vanishes. Searching for him, Kai learns of Xiaoxin and Chinese workers in a skyscraper whose story mirrors hers. Over a hot, slow summer, bonds develop between them.
Director's biography
Nele Wohlatz is a script writer, director, and visual artist. She directed the short films: The Perfect Backpack (2014) and Tres Oraciones Sobre La Argentina (2016), and co-directed the feature film Ricardo Bär (2013). Her feature film El Futuro Perfecto (2016) won the Golden Leopard for the best first feature at Locarno IFF. Her feature Sleep with Your Eyes Open (2024) premiered at the 74th Berlinale and received a FIPRESCI award for the best film in the Encounters section.
