DON’T CRY, BUTTERFLY
Synopsis
Tam, a wedding venue staff, finds out about her husband’s affair and tries to win back his love with the help of a spell master. Ha, Tam’s daughter, can’t accept the way Tam handles the family issue, dreams of getting away from home. Meanwhile, a House Spirit starts to lurk beneath their leaky and cracked ceiling that is visible only to them.
Director's biography
Duong Dieu Linh is a filmmaker who attended Berlinale Talents in 2020, Asian Film Academy in 2016, Locarno Summer Academy and Bucheon Fantastic Film School in 2015. Her debut feature Don’t Cry, Butterfly participated in Full Circle Lab, Less Is More, Locarno Open Doors Hub, Attagirl, and most recently Hong Kong-Asia Financing Forum (HAF) where it won both the Udine Focus Asia and Wouter Barendretch Award. Her shorts include A Trip to Heaven (2020), Sweet, Salty (2019), Mother, Daughter, Dreams (2018).
