Synopsis
In the turbulent landscape of post-Soviet Kazakhstan in 1993, collective farms are disbanded, and properties are set to be privatized. It seems like the properties will be divided unfairly; the leaders have long exceeded their official powers. A resilient farmer with a humble dream of securing his rightful portion faces personal struggles. Should he go along with the corruption or stand up for what's right?
Director's biography
Elzat Eskendir is a director, writer. His first short film Off-season (2016) won the Sonji Award for Best Short Film at the Busan Film Festival. His feature debut Abel won 3 awards at Vesoul Asian Film Festival 2025, including Best Film (Critics Jury Award), Grand Prize of the International Jury and NETPAC Award.
