VIETNAMESE IN-COMPETITION FILMS IN DANAFF III

A striking feature of this year’s selection is the strong presence of the horror genre, accounting for nearly half of the lineup, with titles such as The Ancestral Home, The Sisters, The Guardian Demon, and Detective Kien. These films reflect a growing trend of reimagining folk tales and traditional customs through eerie, suspenseful narratives - offering creative reinterpretations rather than relying solely on shock value.

In addition to horror, several romantic dramas - Friend Zone, Money Kisses, and Once Upon a Love Story - target younger audiences with emotionally layered, often humorous storylines. Meanwhile, two family-themed films - The Real Sister and Runaway Grandma - bring forth social perspectives, each adopting its own distinct approach.

All Vietnamese films in competition will be judged on equal footing by the professional jury and stand a fair chance of being honored at DANAFF III.
