LEGEND OF THE GOLDEN BUFFALO
Synopsis
The arrogant boy Quynh always believed himself to be the center of the universe. Unfortunately, his parents were accused of seizing a royal treasure and became fugitives. Amidst the chaos, Quynh was aided by his village friends and a strong but clumsy baby buffalo. Determined to restore his family's honor, Quynh uncovered a sinister plot by a malevolent force seeking to unleash the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox, intending to plunge the world into chaos. Quynh and his young companions found themselves swept into an incredibly perilous adventure, with their only hope lying in seeking the help of the divine Golden Ox. However, with only the abilities of a group of children and a naive yet powerful buffalo, countless challenges awaited them. Through his journey, Quynh gradually discovered a hidden desire within his heart—the longing for true friendship. He came to understand the meaning of companionship and was willing to sacrifice himself to forge sincere bonds with others.
Director's biography
Director Trinh Lam Tung (born on October 10, 1981) is a prominent Vietnamese animation director with a solid educational background and a long-standing dedication to the arts. He graduated from three specialized universities: the National University of Art Education, the University of Industrial Fine Arts, and the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema. With over a decade of continuous creative work, he has made significant contributions to the development of Vietnamese animated cinema and has received numerous prestigious awards. In 2012, he won the Golden Kite Award from the Vietnam Cinema Association as the director and visual artist of the film The Bigger, The Smaller. In 2016, his film A Desertion earned the Silver Kite Award, and in 2017, the same film brought him the Silver Lotus and the Best Director Award at the Vietnam Film Festival. In 2022, he received the Second Prize of the Green Screen Award for his film A Meaningful Summer Vacation. The year 2023 marked a milestone in his career when his film Emperor Đai Hanh won awards for Outstanding Acting and Outstanding Sound Design at the National Film Festival. That same year, he was honored with the Best Animated Film Award at the Vietnam Digital Content Creation Awards (VCA 2023) for the episode Mischievous Lion Dance Crew from the animated series The Childhood of Trang Quynh. Most recently, in 2024, his film The Childhood of Trang Quynh received the Audience Choice Award for Most Favorite Vietnamese Film at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival.
