Synopsis
Friend Zone tells a romantic love story set against the beautiful backdrop of Vietnam, from the white sandy beaches of the Central region to the majestic mountains of the Northwest. Binh An (Kaity Nguyen), a girl who lives wholeheartedly for love, is happily with her boyfriend Vu Tran (Thanh Son), a talented and popular director. Beside her is Bao Toan (Tran Ngoc Vang), her best friend who has silently loved her for a long time. On their journey through poetic lands, conflicts and truths gradually unfold, forcing all three to confront their true feelings. Can Bao Toan step out of the "friend zone" to reach Binh An's heart? And will Binh An have the courage to face the truth about her own love?
Director's biography
Diep The Vinh is a respected Vietnamese director of photography and film director. He gained prominence as a cinematographer, contributing to numerous successful films like Sweet 20 (2015) and Blood Moon Party (2020). His exceptional work on Dad, I'm Sorry (2021) earned him the 2021 Golden Kite Award for Best Cinematography. Vinh is known for his visual storytelling and collaboration with leading Vietnamese filmmakers. In 2025, he made his directorial debut with the romantic drama Friend Zone, co-directing with Nguyen Quang Dung. This marked a new chapter in his career, showcasing his talent beyond cinematography. Diep The Vinh stands as a significant figure in Vietnam's contemporary film scene, both behind and now in front of the camera. His contributions have shaped the visual landscape of many popular Vietnamese movies.
